July 8, 2015: The Final Entry
And so we come to the end a year-long ride aboard a rhetorical nostalgia train that has consisted of 104 columns, all but one from my years as FCCEM pastor.
In today’s 105th and final archive entry, there isn’t much more to say. As of today completed, this collection uniquely reflects the tone and character of my thirty years here: my love of language; my penchant for subjects both arcane and consequential; my willingness to be silly as well as sublime. I hope you have enjoyed the trip, and will know you are always welcome to make return visits; the archive will be part of this website for a long time to come.
The archive’s first entry was the very first “And from Bill...” column I ever published. That short column, published on my third day on the job, ended with this...
“When you called me you called all of me – heart, mind, body, and soul. In the years to come I will do nothing less than give to you my all. My challenge to each of you is that you do the same.”
Thirty years later, nothing has changed.
