Today’s entry is another selection from the “not well written” category, at least by my current standards, but it typifies my willingness over the years to take culture to task, or to use modern culture to make larger points.

This column takes us back to the Christmas season of 1991. Its lead-off hitter, Willard Scott, is no longer active in commercials, but that doesn’t deactivate the point of the piece which has merit whether the subject is Christmas or Easter or Thanksgiving or....
