Archive Entry #58: February 18, 2010

Posted on January 23, 2015.

Though I’m sure most pastors who write newsletter columns dream of readers beyond their congregations registering reactions to their words, most of them are also realists enough to acknowledge the limited range of their work; I know I am. So on the handful of occasions through the years when someone outside our church has responded to one of my columns – such as the Dispatch newspaper’s alarm over what I wrote in the column presented in archive entry #21 – I’ve felt good.

This entry generated a generous compliment from a church secretary in a church 50 or so miles from the Quad Cities. If you’d like to join her appreciation or express dissent about its content, leave a comment below.

COMING NEXT: From October 1996 comes the final archive entry from that year and a column that observed and summarized my first 500 sermons as FCCEM pastor. These days I’m closing in on sermon 1,500 at our church. Time (and sermon manuscripts) flies. Find it HERE.
