Archive Entry #42: December 15, 2005

Posted on December 1, 2014.

Now that we’ve finished with Thanksgiving (the holiday, not the attitude!) archive entries move to Christmas.

Today’s opening take on the subject focuses on what for awhile was an annual complaint ritual - an alleged “War on Christmas.” In very recent years, attacks about such a war have diminished, an outcome with which, as the following column makes crystal clear, I am very well pleased.

p.s. I apologize for the delay in getting this entry into the archive. I took a few days off to visit my side of the family in Iowa and South Dakota for the holiday, but did not have time to create this entry. Beginning tomorrow, the archive returns to its Tuesday/Friday schedule.

p.p.s. With today's entry, the Archive bids farewell to 2005, a year whose three representative entries are now safely in their hallowed new home.

COMING NEXT: From January 1991, a column that received more reaction (and not necessarily positive reaction!) than just about any other I’ve ever written.... And it’s about greeting cards! Find it HERE.
