Archive Entry #39: November 20, 2008
All good things must come to end, and such is the case today when it comes to archive entries from the year 2008. Three previous representatives from ‘08 discussed what was then a dream of our church having a web page (some dreams do come true!) and offered a couple of takes on the nature and possibilities of American politics.
Today’s fourth and final entry from six years ago begins a three entry mini-series on thanksgiving. A testament to my occasional awareness of where life is on the calendar, most of my November newsletter columns over the years have included some kind of take on what it means to have or how it’s possible to be express our gratitude. Today’s column reads as if it belongs in our current sermon series, which can be found HERE.
For me, Thanksgiving is more than a simple “thank you” for our blessings - a point I hope today’s archive entry successfully makes.
COMING NEXT: From what was for me and my professional life a dark and somber November 2000, one of the more poignant and confessional columns I have ever written. Find it HERE.
