Archive Entry #101: June 17, 2010
I have to tell you that for a moment I was disappointed by today’s entry... or perhaps that upon reading this entry I felt disappointed in the column I published in the newsletter we distributed last week in advance of my 30th anniversary as FCCEM pastor. The cause for the disappointment was that this column, written to lift up our silver anniversary together, breaks no new ground, offers no unique insights, delivers no heart-tugger that my other attempts at packaging our time together haven’t already provided. My creative side – the part of me that likes all things new, regardless of how old they are – wanted and expected more from this 25th anniversary special.
But then I realized that the message common to all of these anniversary acknowledgements – that I consider my years here to be a God thing for which I will always feel enormous gratitude – is a message worth repeating... after ten years together, and twenty-five years together, and thirty years together, and every day we are together from this day forward. Thank you. (I know: I’ve already said that. Get used to it.)
